Street Talk Suite Talk Act I, Act II in progress, community discussion (modern dance, spoken word, classical music)
Street Talk Suite Talk combines poetry created by young rappers, music from a classical tradition, and the unique choreography of Anna Myer to create a new art form dedicated to fostering social change. Act I has ten distinctive sections: some mix viola, rap, and dance, some are for a lone poet, and one is a prelude for solo violin. By combining artistic traditions, Street Talk Suite Talk challenges its performers and touches a broad audience. These diverse art forms together express the challenges of urban living in a world that is often fragmented and still racially separated and distrustful.
Act II, currently being developed, tells the story of the personal as well as social struggle to overcome anger and despair and find ways to reach out and connect with a widening ring of communities. Here the art forms are fused more deeply to demonstrate the power of human and social connections across boundaries.

The Summer Camp Fair (fair/festival)
It’s no surprise that as the economy begins to turn around in 2010, many families are getting an early start on the summer camp search process. In fact, many camps are close to filling up already and it’s still the middle of winter!
So, to help families in the process of finding the right summer camp, the American Camp Association, New England is presenting THE Summer Camp Fair on Monday, February 8th at Minuteman Career and Technical High School. There will be directors and representatives from approximately 75 ACA-accredited day and sleepaway camps from all across New England on hand to answer questions and provide insight into what each camp offers for kids and their families. All kinds of camps will be represented: specialty, traditional, adventure, family, trip/travel, general, religious, and community service.
ACA, New England -- the region’s one-stop shop for all things camp oversees and accredits nearly 400 day and overnight camps across all six New England states.

Fat Tuesday Dinner (fundraiser dinner)
From the French term "Mardi Gras" (literally "Fat Tuesday") celebrating the last day of feasting before Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, Fruitlands Museum presents the next in a series of inventive dinners planned in Alcott's Restaurant and Tea Room for 2010. Menus feature the culinary skills of Chefs Paul Correnty and Chris Basile who use innovative foods to create both unique and classic regional dishes for the thematic dinners.
New Orleans is famous for Cajun and Creole cuisine, so it's no wonder the Chefs offer these traditional Mardi Gras foods, created with their own signature twist for the dinner. They will be pairing this menu with micro-brewed beers and wines.

A Crime So Monstrous -- public lecture with E. Benjamin Skinner, abolitionist (lecture / education)
E. Benjamin Skinner has the dubious honor of having seen the purchase of human beings on four continents. Skinner, a senior fellow at the Schuster Institute, will discuss his award-winning book, "A Crime So Monstrous: Face-to-Face With Modern-Day Slavery," which details his journeys through such countries as Romania, India, Haiti, and Sudan, and his quest to expose the horrors of modern-day slavery, still all too prevalent in today's society.
He will also talk about his personal journey, and how he came to follow a path of journalism, social justice, and human rights.
This lecture is part of the Social Justice Leadership Series.

The Overnight is an 18-mile journey through the night - from dusk until dawn - in order to bring suicide out of the darkness and into the light.
For this inspirational event to be a success, we rely on the time and talents of so many people who take on the roles of walkers, crew, and volunteers.
A suicide attempt is made every minute of every day, but you can begin the process of eradicating this statistic by signing up today!!
This is the first year we will walk in Boston and we look forward to having you with us!!
