Massachusetts Avenue

Massachusetts Avenue, also known as Mass Ave, stretches from the southern neighborhood of Dorchester, across the Charles River, through Harvard, into northern suburbs of Boston. Because of its length, Mass Ave contains a large assortment of commercial activity. Pedestrians fill the sidewalks as they wander from shops to restaurants to museums to apartments in locations such as Harvard Square, Porter Square, Central Square, and Chester Square. Even Paul Revere used Mass Ave as his route during his "Midnight Ride" in order to warn Samuel Adams and John Hancock of the imminent British attack. If he made that ride today, he would probably arrive a bit late due to the magnificent shops and the appetizing restaurants he would encounter on his way to Lexington.
