Brookline Avenue may not be as lengthy or well known to outsiders, but to the people of Boston Brookline Avenue remains close to their heart for one main reason: the Boston Red Sox. As Brookline Avenue branches off of the very active Kenmore Square, it plays an important role of the western border to Fenway Park, the beloved home of the Red Sox. Besides offering bars and restaurants to eat at whether or not the Red Sox are in season, Brookline Avenue also leads you to the Fenway Plaza Shopping Center, the Regal Cinemas Theatre, and many other shopping stores. Further along the road, Brookline Avenue runs through the Longwood Medical Area, which is comprised of a number of medical research institutions and hospitals, until it dead ends into Washington Street and Huntington Avenue. It shouldn't matter whether the Red Sox are playing the Yankees, Royals, or nobody, Brookline Avenue always offers people a pleasant area to spend their day.
